Finally a sweater for me!!
So this past weekend was super-duper cold!!! With the air temp at near zero and the wind chills around -15 degrees F., I decided that I would put off my long run on Sunday and snuggle up with my kitty, Walter, and knit my little heart out! The result of my hard work? Half of the body of my sweater is now done!!
I'm so excited to finally get this one finished so I can wear it! The pattern is After the Rain by Heidi Kirrmaier and is totally worth the purchase! I'm using Bergere de France yarn that I bought at a close out sale in Asheville, NC when making my annual trip to visit my aunt and uncle. The yarn is called Origins Merino and has since been discontinued by the company. It's a pity because it is so soft and warm! Lovely to work with as well!
So I don't have to sew in a million ends, I have been carrying the yarn down through the stripes by anchoring it. I will try to take pictures and post a tutorial on how to do that soon! Also, to sew in as little amount of ends as possible, I have been using the Russian join method for attaching new yarn. It makes a solid fuse with old and new yarn and is practically invisible. I love using this join as the only ends I end up weaving in are where I cast on and where I bind off!! I will definitely post a tutorial on how to do a Russian join in the near future, as soon as I have to start a new ball of yarn!
As for me, I am hoping to do a few more rows tonight when the snow is once again falling!
Stay warm everyone and as always,
Happy Knitting!!!
